I have questions
Let’s start here
-
A full-scale strategic plan typically takes 6-9 months, though we can also accomplish a lot in as little as a day or two for a specific, targeted process. The timeline often depends on how many voices you want to engage and getting the plan done—we'll find the right balance for your situation.
I try to stay away from a process that will take much more than 9 months; we don’t want too much to have changed by the time we finish!
-
Strategic planning - whether for your whole organization or for a particular part of it - is best suited for when you have at least a general vision of what success looks like, and you need to create a roadmap for getting there.
Mapping Strategic Clarity is for when you know you want change, but you’re not sure how to move forward. It's about understanding root causes, getting untangled, and creating a short-term plan for action, over the course of about 6 - 8 weeks.
-
My approach to thought partnership is similar to coaching, but with more of a direct, outcomes-based approach that is based on a retainer for ongoing support.
We’ll start with a kickoff session to lay everything on the table and I’ll develop an action plan to guide our work. Clients generally find the greatest benefit meeting twice monthly for strategy sessions, though more or less often is also possible. You’ll also have unlimited email and phone access for when you need support between meetings.
-
The Board Governance Navigator is a free self-assessment tool for Executive Directors/CEOs and board chairs who want to strengthen their board's effectiveness. In less than 30 minutes, you'll identify your board's current position across four key governance domains and gain clarity on concrete next steps for growth.
-
You don't need to know which service fits—you just need to be clear about the challenges you're facing and what you're trying to accomplish. My job is to help you figure out the right path forward, whether that fits neatly into one of my existing services or requires something more tailored to your situation. Let's talk it through together and design the solution that actually works for you.
Are we a good fit?
-
The organizations I work with have successfully moved out of their startup days, or they may be up to one hundred years old or greater. Regardless of their age, they are eager to grow, adapt, and learn, and ready to invest in building the clarity and capacity they need to get there.
These organizations tend to have between 3 and 50 full-time employees and budgets between one and five million dollars.
-
The vast majority of my work is in the Jewish community, which means you'll be working with someone who is extremely knowledgeable, skilled, and passionate about the landscape you’re working within. I also have a soft spot in my heart for mental health and surrogacy-related causes, so I may take on an occasional project in these areas from time-to-time as well.
What to expect
-
We'll start with a Zoom conversation (usually around 45 minutes) to talk about the challenges you're facing and what success looks like. I'll ask questions that help you isolate what's needed most and give me a sense of whether I can help—and if so, how. I will never "sell" you on something I'm not confident I can deliver! If we both think it makes sense to move forward, I'll send a proposal documenting our conversation and the plan for our work together. Once we're in agreement, we'll sign off, I'll send an invoice for your initial deposit, and we'll dig into the work together.
-
Pricing is customized based on the experience, expertise, availability, and time to carry out the outcomes and value of the project as a whole—not just on how long or short it takes me to complete the work. After all, you care about the success of our work together, not how many hours I log, right? Once we've talked through your needs, I'll provide transparent pricing upfront so you know exactly what to expect.
-
I work virtually and in-person, depending on the project. Many (though not all) processes work beautifully in either format, and I can help you determine which approach will be most effective for your specific situation. I live in the Boston area and often travel throughout the US as needed.
-
It really varies depending on the time of year and other projects I have going on. When in doubt, reach out sooner rather than later to ensure the greatest amount of flexibility to meet your needs.
Why work together?
-
Absolutely—and sometimes a self-guided approach will be the right way to go.
As you make the decision, consider:
Will an outside perspective help us see things from a fresh perspective?
Would it be useful to have a neutral presence to bring structure to complex conversations, ask questions we might not have considered, and create space for honest dialogue?
Does our team have the bandwidth to take on strategic work internally?
-
I bring deep expertise, genuine partnership, and a straightforward, actionable approach. With more than twenty-five years of professional experience in the Jewish community—including 12 years as a CEO—I have walked in very similar shoes as yours. I listen deeply, ask the right questions, and design processes that fit your unique reality.
-
You'll gain clarity about your direction, alignment among your stakeholders, and concrete next steps you can actually implement. More importantly, you'll build the capacity to navigate future challenges with confidence—because sustainable change comes from strengthening your organization's ability to think strategically, not just from having a plan on paper.
-
Many engagements include follow-up support to help you implement recommendations and navigate questions that arise. I'm invested in your long-term success—not just delivering a report and walking away. Many clients find that thought partnership provides more sustained support as they move forward.
